Sago, mango, coconut juice--what's not to love?

The best part about Hong Kong food is how much healthier it is than Chinese food. Case in point, Hui Lau Shan: Healthy Dessert, of which there are at least three in Mongkok.

Best health food ever--a giant glass of mango juice, chunks of mango and tapioca (sago) with a floater of pure coconut cream. You can also get mango jelly added, if you're feel adventurous. 1500 calories minimum, I'd wager, but worth every damn one of 'em.

  1. Oh my I love those dessert places in Hong Kong! I'd always get mango sago dishes though sometimes I'd misorder and get one sprinkled with little pellets of revolting (which may or may not be frog fallopian tubes). Hell, I'd probably move to HK if there was the promise of mango deliciousness within easy reach constantly (oh, plus all that congee and dumplings, and modernity).
I have to stop looking at your blog now, I'm too sad to not be in China right now and see that you may or may not be in my idea of eating heaven (Georgetown).
    Sago ftw!

  2. I'm becoming a complete sago freak. But, I hear that this chain has a store in the Bay Area. No idea if that is true or not, though.

And yes, I am in Georgetown. :)
