American breakfast
I've never been a big western breakfast person, especially now after spending months Asia eating steaming bowls of noodles every morning. But I'm still occasionally tempted by pancakes due to my carb addiction and fondness for real maple syrup.
So last week when Fran and Dan offered to take me to Elmer's in Ashfield, I jumped at the chance. Fran's post about the place a few weeks earlier had me salivating from a hotel room in Tokyo, but I hadn't considered the possibility that I'd actually manage to make it there myself.
Eggs, corned beef and whole wheat bread.
The pancakes were the size of dinner plates although they were billed "the small ones" and much fluffier than the (really good) ones I make. I need to learn their secret. A side of home fries was the finishing touch for a perfect American breakfast.
